Writing · Problem: My AI writing sounds generic

How do I make AI writing sound less generic and more like me?

Give AI a sample of your own writing, name the words you never use, and tell it who you are talking to. Generic writing happens when AI has no voice to copy, so it falls back on safe, corporate phrasing. A short sample of how you really write fixes most of it in one step.

When to use this

The draft is correct but reads like a brochure, uses words like "elevate" and "seamless", or sounds nothing like you.

Copy this prompt

Build my own version
Here are 3 short examples of how I actually write:
"""
[paste 3 of your own posts, emails or messages]
"""

Study my style: sentence length, word choice, how I open and close, how formal I am.

Now rewrite the text below so it sounds like me:
"""
[paste the AI draft]
"""

Rules:
- Never use these words: elevate, unlock, seamless, game-changer, delve, in today's fast-paced world, leverage.
- Use short sentences. Say it the way I would say it to a customer face to face.
- Keep every fact the same.

After the rewrite, list 3 things about my style you noticed, so I can reuse them.

Replace each [bracket] with your own details. Works in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot and Meta AI.

Example

What you type in

Three WhatsApp broadcasts from a bakery owner, plus an AI draft that starts "Elevate your celebrations with our exquisite artisanal creations."

What you can expect back (shortened)

"Birthday this weekend? We still have 6 slots for custom cakes. Pandan gula melaka is back too. WhatsApp me before Thursday, ya." Your style: short lines, friendly, direct deadline, a little local flavour.

Common mistake

Asking AI to "make it sound more human" without showing it what human means for you.

Better follow-up prompt

Save my style as a short style guide I can paste at the start of future chats.
